Maintenance and Inspection

Pre-Flight Checks

Before every flight:

  • Visual inspection for physical damage
  • Propeller balance and condition check
  • Mounting bolt security verification
  • Wire routing inspection (no contact with moving parts)
  • Brief spin test (listen for unusual sounds)

Periodic Maintenance Schedule

Every 10 Flight Hours:

  • Re-torque mounting bolts to specification
  • Inspect threadlocker integrity
  • Check bearing smoothness (manual rotation)
  • Clean motor exterior with compressed air
  • Inspect propeller for wear or damage

Every 50 Flight Hours:

  • Detailed bearing inspection
  • Shaft runout measurement
  • Electrical connection integrity check
  • Replace propeller if worn
  • Document maintenance in flight log

Signs Requiring Immediate Inspection:

  • Unusual vibration during operation
  • Increased motor temperature (>80°C)
  • Grinding or scraping sounds
  • Reduced thrust output
  • Propeller wobble

Bearing Replacement

Bearing Specifications:

  • Type: Dual 619/8-2Z Sealed
  • Service Interval: 100-150 flight hours (typical)

Safety Notes

⚠️ Important Safety Information

Operational Safety:

  • Never run motor without propeller attached (causes unbalanced load)
  • Ensure proper cooling during extended operation
  • Monitor motor temperature - do not exceed 80°C for sustained periods
  • Inspect motor bearings regularly for wear
  • Replace damaged propellers immediately

Electrical Safety:

  • Verify correct ESC wiring before first power-up
  • Use only 12S LiPo batteries (44-52V range)
  • Do not exceed maximum continuous current ratings
  • Ensure proper battery discharge rates (C-rating)

Installation Safety:

  • Follow torque specifications exactly
  • Never exceed maximum bolt length specifications
  • Verify rotation direction before propeller installation
  • Maintain minimum clearance to frame

Emergency Procedures:

  • If motor overheats (>80°C), land immediately
  • If unusual vibration occurs, stop operation
  • If motor makes grinding sounds, inspect bearings
  • Always have emergency landing plan
